Showing posts with the label Liquitex pouring medium

Start with 3 same designs and land up with 3 different paintings- using Liquitex and Pebeo paints

Here are 3 same designs that I started with a lace curtain on 6 x 12 inch canvases and worked each one with different mediums to get 3 completely different designs. First I sprayed Liquitex transparent Yellow, Red then White on the canvases. I let them dry for 45 mins. I then separated all the paintings with different mediums and played with each one over the course of 6 hours. So here are the results of playing with different mediums. First one was highlighted with some airbrush paint and Pebeo Gouche and outlined with Liquitex markers.  Second one, I used some pouring medium to highlight someof the floral design Third one, I used the Pebeo Gedeo relief mix and mirror effects. I have a couple of issues with the product, the tube burst open on the side and a lot of the product was lost. I will have to really build up the relief in order to be able to see some of the mirror effects. Maybe there is a thicker product to try. I will have to look into this...

I am not sure if I will make the background look more like a sunset or just add some more iridescent paint The tree itself will get a silver leaf over the black   8 X 8  This looks like one of those i...

Reworked an older pouring medium from last year

Finished and varnished 8x8 painting with pouring medium

Mini 6x12 Poppy painting finished

The smaller poppy painting is finished and waiting for hanging

Poppy painting progress and possible completion today

Although I have tons of errands to do, it is nice and sunny and I think that I will jump on the opportunity to finish this piece today. So this morning I painted the edges of the leaves and all around the edges of the painting with Liquitex gold paint marker. Now I am trying to decide if I want to alter the orange and yellow flower....something about it bothers me. But before I do that I will varnish the black and the leaves and all sides of the painting that way it will give it a nice glossy sheet to match the pouring medium which is glass like. So here are the photos taken this morning which might be too bright from the sun in the back ground. I am not sure I like this flower below.

Poppy painting in progress

Still working on the 30x30 along with the 6x12. I struggled a bit about the positioning of the other 2 poppies and whether there should be 2 or 3. I hear that 3 is always a better number of things when adding something in a painting. Since the first one took up so much room I decided to do a side view only. They I didn't know what colours to do and so I did a mix of colours with orange, white and yellow for the first one and then the second red and white only. I them wanted them to some how look like art noveau style and edited the background green. I am still working that out. I had to walk away from it several times because I thought I might be going to far but it gave me the chance to come back wth a fresh look. I think in the end of it. I will complete the black edging and then outline the green with either a metallic blue or gold. The gold with give some definition. I still have to wait at least 72 hrs for the pouring medium to cure and then details and then final varnish. ...

Liquitex pouring medium new paintings

It has been a while since I played around with my Liquitex pouring medium. I finally went out and bought some large squeeze bottles to make the job easier. I worked on a smaller on 6x12 and I am not tackling the 30x30. Both of these shots are while the product is still wet so it will be interesting to see what the outcome is when the colours have had a chance to settle. I will wait for the first poppy to cure b/4 I start the second one on the bigger painting. I am not too sure I like the colour that I painted in the background and may change that up when completely cured.

Some older paintings waiting for resin finish with Liquitex pouring medium

Now I am waiting to put a couple of mini's together to set them up for the resin finish in the basement. This one I started up north at the cottage and then I looked at it one day and thought this is a perfect candidate for a resin finish.

Playing with Liquitex Pouring Medium and image transfer and Flow Aid Release

While testing different products for image transfer I came across this wonderful picture of my grandson and my son in law. I printed it on my new laser printer and then transferred the image with Liquitex gloss medium which worked on wood. I then stained the wood with different colours of green and blue with Flow aid release. I let it dry for 24 hours then did the image transfer on top. Image transfer doesn't seem to work so well on canvas....believe I have been trying. Then once all the paper was removed, I applied pouring medium on top with the edges raised with some masking tape. It did manage to pour through in a couple of spots but nothing like the rough edges I got previously. Some of the edges were a little rough and raised a little higher on one side. But all and all, I am very happy with the results. while curing completely cured and masking tape removed. I will probably have to lightly sand the edges so that it is not rough.
