Old ladders

for years I have kept my dad's old ladder and some of his tools too. The ladder has seen it's days and it's not really safe to climb anymore but I felt an attachment to it because I don't have many things that belonged to him. My husband kept insisting that I throw it away but I knew one day a great project would come out of it and here it is thanks to Nancy @ all pulped out :  http://allpulpedout.blogspot.ca/2012/08/diy-project.html?showComment=1343934058619#c3855583564321956958 Now all I have to do is find the room to put it and of course add it to my project pile Here are some other ideas below which I found on pinterest

Rain chain project ideas

I have been thinking about making some rain chains for a while because I found them to be pretty costly at most of the garden centers. Here are some of the ideas that I have found via: http://dollarstorecrafts.com/2012/07/tutorial-rain-chain-from-wire-wrapped-rock/comment-page-1/#comment-59864 Project Materials: 2 spools of floral wire, $1 each 5-10 coils of thick decorative floral wire, $1 each 1 bag of decorative river rocks, $1 Paper clips, on hand Pencil, on hand Wire cutters, on hand or $1 Needle-nosed pliers, on hand or about $3 p Note about Supplies: Wire:  You can find the thin, green floral wire, the thick decorative wire, and wire cutters in the floral section of the dollar store. If you can't find the thick decorative floral wire, pick up a spool of colored  20-Gauge Wire  in the jewelry-making section of your local craft store for about $5. You can also use plain silver floral wire instead of green floral wire if you prefer. How much wir...

Stained glass that I scored at a garage sale

I came across these 2 stained glass pieces on the weekend at a garage sale for $2.00. I know I have no where to put them, but I just could not resist them. Each piece has some slight damage on small sections of the glass but this can be repaired. Instead of just soldering some hooks and hanging them in the window with chain, I am going to look for some old windows to put them in and then add some thicker chain and hang them in my diningroom. This will sit in the project pile for a bit but it will be a good project in the fall or winter when there is nothing else to do outdoors.

DIY Projects for around the house - If I only could

I just love these floating shelves from  http://ana-white.com/2010/10/ten-dollar-ledges.html but I am not really handy when it comes to wood working and combine that with the fact that I have plaster walls, I will wait until someone can help me out with this project. And check out this wonderful console table from  http://knockoffdecor.com/wooden-workbench-console-table/ I believe I may have the perfect salvaged piece of wood at the cottage. I was hoping to get our friend Lars to help me make a bar in front of the window in the kitchen area with it but this would be nice too. This would be a cute idea for the small wooden box I have in the front room: Source: http://meggielynne.tumblr.com Here is a design that I would love to do on a carpet: Pallets are usually dropped by the side of the road, here are some great ideas to re-use them: Source:  http://www.homedit.com/21-ways-of-turning-pallets-into-unique-pieces-of-furniture/ And this one is my favori...

Painted glass jars

Again for the crafty girl at Beach Vintage....another one of my loves "glass" I have a whole bunch of them that I picked up at an auction a couple of years ago that are perfect for this project. http://beachvintage.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2011-03-11T13%3A50%3A00%2B10%3A00&max-results=12

Drift wood projects

How cute is this...from Beach Vintage again.....a drift wood fish. Hum, I have tons of pieces that we pulled out of the lake perfect for this project. http://beachvintage.blogspot.com/2009/07/project-day-driftwood-fish.html Gather some driftwood or sticks in different sizes. The most important piece is the head so it may take some time to find this. I have used 3 x adhesive backed protector squares. These are meant for furniture items so they don't scratch the floor. I bought mine from the local hardware store for $4.95 a set. Arrange the pieces on a flat surface as shown. Using strong adhesive, glue each piece of wood onto the mat as shown. What until it dries completely. Peel the backing off the mat and stick straight to any clean surface. Bear in mind that once on a wall it is final. To remove it will wreck the backing mat and the artwork.  Driftwood mirror make over by:  http://lbratina.blogspot.com/2011/08/thrifty-thursday-125-plus-tablescape.html

Antique sewing machine idea

I came across this cute idea at Beach Vintage http://beachvintage.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2011-05-23T08%3A20%3A00%2B10%3A00&max-results=12 Not that I will put it in a store front but it just looks so much cuter in white. I am book marking it for future project possibilities for the one I have at the cottage.
