This sewing basket was my great grandmother's and part of my fascination with the #randomthingsicollect. It is old and tattered but regarded as precious to me. It is possibly the reason why I love to collect anything associated with sewing and notions. I am not a sewer but do know how to darn things. I have made a couple of projects of simply straight lines on the sewing machine but I would need to take a course to be able to do any complex patterns. I do fix the worst holes my grandkids put in their clothing but its a labor of love.  I never got to know my grandmother Meta Forbes. She left after my mothers birth. There were 4 older sisters. The family never knew where she went. My grandfather never spoke a word about her. Possibly she went into a mental institution. We did later in life discover (which I write about in another section of my blog) that he had 3 other children. I think I have ever color imaginable to match any garment. I just love the old wood ones and the labels...

 So you ask yourself what does one do with these; my grandsons played with them making towers learning how to have a steady hand and how balance works. Now our favorite game is Jenga.  Anyhow I asked the person who bought them from me what she planned on using them for and she is using them as the base for Christmas bottle brush trees. I hope she is able to send me a photo. That's the only thing annoying about Poshmark is you are limited to conversations as they think you are doing transactions off their platform. This was a funny incident I shared with my grandsons wondering if they would have attempted to take one box out of this pile at the store
