These printer drawers come in various sizes depending on the size of the cabinet that the letters were originally stored in which were used by printers for printing presses.  Most cabinets are wood and there are also metal.   The drawers can used to display collections of anything you can think of that would fit into the small sections. I use mine to display school photos, jewelry, marbles and buttons.
