Barbara Pagani's Tresor Cache 101

Here is my daughter's pumpkin for the contest which she won at work. I was amazed how brilliantly she put this together in one evening. Here are the other entries which are amazing too

One of these paintings was sold a few of years ago to one of my neighbors as I was working on the painting and she asked to buy it right there and then even after I explained that I was still being worked on and would also need a varnish, she didn't care. So in the meantime, I never got a chance to take a picture of it. It is the painting that I used for my first business cards. So this week, maybe 3 or 4 years later she called me up and asked me if I still paint in that style and I told her that I have either sold them or given them away. She had a look at some of my other paintings in the studio and brought a few home to see if they would match with the one that she already had and she not only came back to buy one but included a frame for one that now looks fantastic.

Wow I am moved to read the article in the Montreal Gazette about "The thrill of the find" which was written by author Susan Semenak. Every little details we discussed in our interview was captured in the same way that I feel when I am out in pursuit of the diamond in the rough at garage sales, bazaars or second hand stores. Stealth, focus,  preparedness. That’s what it takes to be an elite rummager like Barbara Blusanovics. For decades now, the Lachine artist and collector  has been scouring  rummage sales, bazaars and garage sales for good deals, quirky treasures and exciting “finds”  which she weaves into her artwork and her home decor, or polishes up for resale. Even though  she’s having fun, Blusanovics takes her rummaging very seriously. She organizes herself for rummage-sale season as if it were a military campaign, searching online and newspaper listings and plotting maps to make her outings more efficient. The New studio is my son's old room and I am not bring anything in there except my easel, paints, brushes, mediums and one table and a chair. Of course I will be taking my time bringing up one thing at a time.

I started what was to be a simple 24x36 painting while up at the cottage this week . I had an image and the colors of the painting in my head but just did not focus or want to focus on getting that out. My husband got frustrated with me and kept coming over and asking me if this is the idea that I talked about. For some reason or something else was coming out. My good friend Leslie, who may I say can also be sneaky caught most of the transformation of this painting on camera with out me know most of it. The pictures should be revealed shortly. No humans were hurt in the processing of this painting. 

I don't really like to talk about this but my paintings help relieving the pain that I have been living with. I work mostly at night while everyone is enjoying a good sleep which is something I don't do much of. Without getting into details, the only thing that helps me at this point to relieve my pain, is work on my paintings. I could try to stay in bed and fight not being able to sleep but I choose to not fight it and walk like a zombie around the house in the midst of the night and paint. I see the sun rise very often and I used to love it because it was very rare that I would see it but now it see it almost every couple of days. The joke here is not have a good night sleep but try to get sleep. I keep telling myself, "I am bigger than my pain" and do some deep breathing. So far nothing has helped me stay asleep for more than an hour. So here are some of the latest paintings

Our friend's Ce and Rick who host House Concerts have asked me if I would be interested in bringing some of my art work to sell when they had artist Mary Gauthier doing a concert. She was amazing and along with singing her own songs, she tells a little story b/4, after and during her song. And to top it off, she had a great sense of humor. This is the second concert that I have sold my art work there and have been very fortunate to make some good sales. I Thank you all for supporting local original art.
