Barbara Pagani's Tresor Cache 101

 This brooch belonged to my Aunt who was Scottish. I was part of items left behind in storage from her estate. When my cousin passed away his wife contacted me and asked if I was interested in any of the items and I said whatever you can bring on the plane the next time she visited. She brought me this brooch and some small items which I passed on to another cousin who was also her God child. I thought this was a cool piece and could see it being worn on a coat or a large scarf. My searches about it came up nil until one day I was checking out brooches some platform I follow on line and there was one similar. It was linked and for sale on Etsy as per the picture above. It was traditionally attached to a fully ornamented head piece for Brides in Yemen. I have no idea how she would have this piece in her possession but it sits on top of an oil painting she made, in my studio.

  This is a rustic 1950’S - 1960'S Coca-Cola wooden crate that I just purchased. It has the classic  “Buvez Coca-Cola” written in green on the front in French. The lettering has major wear. The wood has lots of dirt and I cleaned it with some bleach and soap.  The bottom looks solid and the inside is divided into 4 sections.  The crate has a lot of wear but understandably for what it was used for, delivering drinks. This is a nice rustic piece of Coca-Cola history to display. Dimensions: 19” long x 11.5” wide x 8 ” tall I will most likely use it in the studio for organization of art supplies.

 Here are some of the photos of my first attempt at resin in molds. I over mixed the first batch and the cup heated up and the product inside turned white & formed a ball before I was able to pour my first mould.  Second batch I used too little but the decoration held up.  Third attempt I used double of the 2nd batch and did the balance of the moulds. They all turned out. The 2nd batch left a slight residue in the mould which seems still wet. I will check it tomorrow. Dec 14th, 2024

 

  This could be used for pencils, paint brush. I have no idea how old it would be. There is tons of rework on the hinges and locking mechanism. A separate picture shows what the lock was like. There are sections where the lacquered paint is peeling. The top shows a scene of birds and landscape in the background.  There seems to be a copper finish underneath which I will leave as is for fear of ruining the finish. Definitely a wonderful show piece for a vintage office. The lock mechanism is sticking out and not functional. There is no key.
