Weeding.....yuk

I spent a good part of this morning and afternoon weeding the edge of my property. It has to be one of the things that I hate the most about a garden next to all the spiders, slugs and earwigs. But it needs to be done so I had better finish this post and get on with the clean up. I work in 1/2 hour intervals so that I don't hurt my back. I helped my other neighbor Elaine the other day completely remove the hops that were infested with a green worm. It digest the leaves on the plant and then leaves excrement all over the deck. She came back from PEI to find the whole top of her gazebo had been eaten. We removed a good part of it with one of the lovely tree trimmers and then bundled the whole lot up in a million garbage bags. It's too bad it was infested because those vines would make some wonderful wreaths. Anyhow it's back to work b/4 Mr man calls and finds out I am not working....as if! oh btw...2 solutions for this infestation problem is: 1-Place a bunch of hot chilie

The Montreal Home Show Mar 27 2010

Steve said it bang on, we were like the herd being lead into the slaughter....it was a maze at the entry with the corridors getting smaller and smaller to the point were we felt like we were suffocating.....Steve panicked out first. The rest of the show seemed to be a bunch of wild money crazy exhibitors trying to get their business cards or pamphlets in your hands. I was not impressed and we hadn't even got to the main hall where the exposition was supposed to be amazing. We only paid $12.00 a ticket plus $20.00 parking which was another maze to get out. This event was definetly not on my to do list next year.

Trip to Toronto for family wedding

My husband also know as Mr. Man, Samantha my daughter, and son Joseph and I drove to Toronto for Rollie and Carolline's wedding in June. We stayed with my husband's cousin Marno's stepdaughter and husband, Bettina and Adam. The wedding was short and sweet in a beautiful little church in Oakville. No family issues to report and everyone had a wonderful time.

Here are some picture of Nathalie's, Joan's and my flowers from our gardens. I will post the pictures that Nathalie took later.

Encaustic Painting 101

I came across encaustic painting which is working with beeswax and mediums through my travels on youtube. I went out and bought some of the products which are a little costly. I spent hours and hours reading and watching videos on other artists and how they are using the medium. Finally I decided to jump in with hesitation I must say to prepare my medium. I was really nervous, # 1 because it can be quite toxic and # 2because it's hot.....I have a tendency to be a little clumsy with hot things. So I spent the afternoon working on the following painting. It didn't come out that great in the picture but I will try to see if I can get my neighbor Nathalie to take a shot with her amazing camera......she is a wonderful artist. The painting needs more layers of wax which I will do at a later date when I can work outside because it is just way too hot to work outdoors. This painting has really evolved into something completely different with the help on my son, Joey. We played arou
