Playing with Liquitex Pouring Medium and image transfer and Flow Aid Release

While testing different products for image transfer I came across this wonderful picture of my grandson and my son in law. I printed it on my new laser printer and then transferred the image with Liquitex gloss medium which worked on wood. I then stained the wood with different colours of green and blue with Flow aid release. I let it dry for 24 hours then did the image transfer on top. Image transfer doesn't seem to work so well on canvas....believe I have been trying. Then once all the paper was removed, I applied pouring medium on top with the edges raised with some masking tape. It did manage to pour through in a couple of spots but nothing like the rough edges I got previously. Some of the edges were a little rough and raised a little higher on one side. But all and all, I am very happy with the results. while curing completely cured and masking tape removed. I will probably have to lightly sand the edges so that it is not rough.

Transfer image to fabric

post via:http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/10/how-to-transfer-a-photo-to-fabric.html HOW TO TRANSFER A PHOTO TO FABRIC Did you know you can transfer photos to fabric without using iron-on sheets? I love this technique. It's simple to execute and the end results are really pretty. It's another method for hand printing! I made some fabrics the other day and used them to add pockets to one of my wool skirts. Do you want to learn to transfer photos to fabric? I thought so... Enjoy!  Supplies Needed: Fabric (I used white quilting cotton), Gel Medium (I used this kind from  Liquidex ), Paint Brush and the image you want to transfer. You can use *any* laser copied image or an image from a vintage magazine (that's what I used) or newspaper. Remember that if your image has words on it you will need to reverse it before copying as the words will print backwards. You'll also need a spray bottle filled with water.  How to transfer a phot...

Melanie is employed by  Golden Paints  and gives a variety of workshops on how to use Golden products. This was my second workshop with her, I had already participated in her basic image transfer session, and I had signed up for her advanced class at the Westmount Visual Arts Centre . Melanie is an energetic teacher, light-hearted and talented. Check out  her website  which features her own work besides snapshots taken during her workshops. Another great thing about her workshops: she brings the B...

Transfer inkjet photo to wood

Source:  http://matsutakeblog.blogspot.com/2009/10/how-to-transfer-inkjet-images-to-wood.html Here we go! This is what you'll need.  Mod Podge , Elmer's washable glue, and a piece of cardstock. Step 1: Brush the Elmer's glue onto the cardstock in a nice smooth layer. Make sure you cover the area where you will be printing. Let it dry. Step 2: With an inkjet printer, print an image onto the glue side of the cardstock. Step 3: Brush a smooth, thin layer of Mod Podge onto the wood. Step 4: Stick your image face down onto the wet  Mod Podge . Press and smooth to make sure the image has good contact with the wood. Let it dry OVERNIGHT. Don't peek too soon! Step 5: Soak it. You can dunk it in water, run it under a faucet, or squirt it with a spray bottle. Let the cardstock get really wet and soft. Gently peel off the cardstock. I held this under running water while I peeled it. You can gently rub the image with your fing...

How to transfer an image to fabric

source:  http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/2010/11/how-to-transfer-image-to-fabric-with.html Here are some of the projects that I experimented with for image transfer: My daughter Sam with her goddaughter, Karina for her confirmation.  Picture of my husband and his brother while visiting Germany in the 60's with a Siberian tiger. This is on of my favorite photos.  My kids, still in progress. Image of Mtl transferred on birch panel. Used various inks and then highlighted the contours of the windows and buildings with metalic permanent inks. Donated for contribution towards travelling musicians at Ce & Rick's house concert 2011.  Final version for my brother in law Vincent 2011.

Working on my art all over the house....as usual

Here are some of the latest paintings that are getting their triple thick coat of varnish. I noticed that a couple of them had some drag marks from the previous 2 coats of varnish, so off to the dining room table they went waiting for the new painting to cure and get their first coat. So as you can see from the photos, I really spread myself all over the house to do my work.....oh one day. Note of mention to a couple of the birthday girls who are getting one of these paintings....just bring me another canvas and I will continue to do a little something, something for your birthday.
