Reworked an older pouring medium from last year

Mini 6x12 Poppy painting finished

The smaller poppy painting is finished and waiting for hanging

Poppy painting progress and possible completion today

Although I have tons of errands to do, it is nice and sunny and I think that I will jump on the opportunity to finish this piece today. So this morning I painted the edges of the leaves and all around the edges of the painting with Liquitex gold paint marker. Now I am trying to decide if I want to alter the orange and yellow flower....something about it bothers me. But before I do that I will varnish the black and the leaves and all sides of the painting that way it will give it a nice glossy sheet to match the pouring medium which is glass like. So here are the photos taken this morning which might be too bright from the sun in the back ground. I am not sure I like this flower below.

Poppy painting in progress

Still working on the 30x30 along with the 6x12. I struggled a bit about the positioning of the other 2 poppies and whether there should be 2 or 3. I hear that 3 is always a better number of things when adding something in a painting. Since the first one took up so much room I decided to do a side view only. They I didn't know what colours to do and so I did a mix of colours with orange, white and yellow for the first one and then the second red and white only. I them wanted them to some how look like art noveau style and edited the background green. I am still working that out. I had to walk away from it several times because I thought I might be going to far but it gave me the chance to come back wth a fresh look. I think in the end of it. I will complete the black edging and then outline the green with either a metallic blue or gold. The gold with give some definition. I still have to wait at least 72 hrs for the pouring medium to cure and then details and then final varnish.

Liquitex pouring medium new paintings

It has been a while since I played around with my Liquitex pouring medium. I finally went out and bought some large squeeze bottles to make the job easier. I worked on a smaller on 6x12 and I am not tackling the 30x30. Both of these shots are while the product is still wet so it will be interesting to see what the outcome is when the colours have had a chance to settle. I will wait for the first poppy to cure b/4 I start the second one on the bigger painting. I am not too sure I like the colour that I painted in the background and may change that up when completely cured.

This is just an amazing photo

I came across this photo via Pinterest from http://pinkelliephotography.com/jennifer/ and this is just a beautiful shot which is very fairy like. Check out her other work

Statue of Liberty painting almost on the chopping block

This painting was up in the livingroom for quite a few years, unfinished. My middle daughter took it down and put up a newer painting I recently finished and told me not to put it back up until it was finished. I like to look at some paintings before I go over the edge and take it in another direction. Having said that there should be a time limit as to how long it can stay up and this one was very close to being gessoed over. Instead because of my resolution to finish up some old paintings, this one got another chance. Some times it is almost impossible to stop myself from just starting over. Now I am dealing with the face that I am trying to get the right patina of aged copper without making her look too green. Of course the solution should be to just run out at buy some copper paint but no I am trying to build up the layering of different hues with using a iridescent green and gold which is really hard to see in the photo. so far it is off the chopping block

One of my new favourite Artists, Sarah Moffat

Trees and Flowers are two of many of my things to paint, and I am blown away by Sarah Moffat's work. Check it out at http://www.sarahmoffat.com/ And this is an article in a local paper:

Getting back to work at home- Getting our crap together - Sparky Tuesday

Doing work out of your home is real hard especially when you make ever excuse in the world not to be involved. My sister in law and I are getting our shit together this month and focusing on getting it back on track. We will be reporting into each other every Tues to see what projects have been completed and trying to keep the spark going.....so we'll call it Sparky Tuesday. This weeks objective is for Barb to take photos of all her finished paintings and get them ready to hang and post them in her etsy store. The other Barb (my sister in law) is going to clean up her office and organize all her supplies. Make a list of the possibilities for doing face painting and of course run it by hubby. So far I have taken pictures of some of the paintings which needed to be photographed and next thing will be to get wire for hanging. We're having a big dinner party here tonight so I don't expect that anything other than house cleaning and cooking will get done this afternoon.
