Work in progress Liquitex srpay paint, markers, crackle paste and lots of varnish and of course patience
This painting I started last spring and it was the first time that I had played with the Liquitex professional spray paints. Anyhow I lost the feeling to continue it and wasn't sure where it was going. I hung it up in the dinning room because it made it look very colourful. My daughter had a party some months ago and someone managed to knock it off the dining room wall, leaving a huge hole in the plaster wall, so I put it away because it's pretty big. While cleaning up and determined to conclude some of my older paintings, I pulled this one out. I still didn't know where to go with it but after working on the last painting that I used glitter I thought I would add some to this one. Of course I ran out of the puffy paint glitter half way through. I thought well why not just add some gloss medium with some paint into the existing containers....bad idea, it looked like crap. Then I decided to paint the puffy paint which looked like crap, gold. So far so good but I want to highlight the sections of the painting that I got some cool details on the crackle paint and also hide some of the areas that the crackle paint turned white and didn't crackle. So the painting continues......details to follow
This pic above is the crackle area that I want to feature but I haven't decided on what colour to use yet. I was thinking that maybe I would do a pink wash and then varnish to seal it and then a darker blue. After that I would give it some gloss medium to give it relief....details to follow
on the right hand side you can see on the redish tulip coming down where it looks white. This is where the crackle paste was not spread thick enough and looks like crap. I have tried to cover it with paint but it manages to creep through. I may have to put some mat medium with paint to cover it. Gesso won't work at this point because of the gloss medium & varnish I used to seal it.
After all the puffy glitter paint was used up, I discovered that it is a hard product to find. I may try the Tulip version which is available at Walmart. I added some varnish medium to the existing little bit of product in the tubes that I had and added some colour but the result wasn't as nice as the original product by Pebeo. I let it dry for 24hrs and then I painted over all the puffy lines with Liquitex metallic gold markers. Then it still looked like it needed more bling....or I wanted more bling, so I added some fake snow with little mica pieces in it and some dry fairy dust with varnish medium in a couple of areas. Let that dry for 48 hrs and varnished completely and voila.
