Back from vacation and missing the internet and all my inspiring artists

One great thing about being on vacation at our cottage is that there is no internet because otherwise I would be on it and not taking it easy. This is when hubby and I get a chance to do some art work in between all the work that is needed for a second home. So as soon as I unpack when I am home, the first thing that I do is load up my computer and get caught up on all my favourite inspiring artists out there. This one in particular is one of my favourite encaustic artists, Eric Gaston Simard. Check out some of his amazing pieces they are so colourful and here is some of the details of his proces with encaustic. I am so doing this with a couple of frames that I have where the glass broke, of course after I finish the paintings that I am working on. http://www.ericgastonsimard.com/#!gallery/c22j5

Inspiring Art work by Paula Cox

I wanted to do a huge painting of a magnolia plant for the huge wall at the cottage and while searching I came across this amazing art work by Paula Cox. It is printed with relief and then it looks like a couple of coats of resin finish. I am so in love with here work. Hum maybe I will get back into my papier mache and do a sculpture. check it out at http://www.paulacoxartist.com/index.html

One of my new favourite Artists, Sarah Moffat

Trees and Flowers are two of many of my things to paint, and I am blown away by Sarah Moffat's work. Check it out at http://www.sarahmoffat.com/ And this is an article in a local paper:

Claire Desjardins colourful painting inspiration for my new painting

Okay so I am supposed to be finishing my big painting for Justin which I am just not feeling the love for....I tried to conclude the eyes but either they seemed too big or they seemed to small....gesso works wonders and now I am back to a clean slate on the eyes.....grrr! So instead of throwing a whole gallon of paint at the other one, I started a new one today. My inspiration comes from Claire Desjardins....obviously mine is completely different as usual. I just loved the colours that she used with the black background. I think I may do the pouring medium to top coat it and make it really pop                                                   This is Claire's painting which I just love the colours: And this is mine Now that I got some frustration out, maybe I'll get back to Justin's painting

Check out this amazing artist Carol Nelson - painting on aluminium foil

I came across this technique by artist Carol Nelson and this is one technique I would love to play with. As indicated by Carol,  This painting glows because the rock shapes are painted on aluminum foil with transparent Golden fluid acrylics.  The light bounces off the foil and back through the paint glazes, giving a remarkable glowing effect. The Creative Process by Joelle Circe

I came across this wonderful article on Facebook and just had to give it mention. If not for other artist's then for my own purpose to read again: I ponder this a lot, I used to think I wasn’t a very creative artist thanks in part to a background inlaid with naysayers, discouragement, indifference and eventually, my very own intense self-doubt about my creativity. So, I figured the best way for me to demonstrate to those who kept telling me how nice my drawings and paintings were but that this pursuit would not amount to much of anything and that I would be better served finding and keeping a real job, was to learn all I could about drawing and painting and become real good technically. I thought for sure this would help explain my love for what I do, it did, a bit, but not really as they continued to see this more like a hobby / pass time than the very real and professional activity it truly was. This was terribly hurtful and came close to discouraging me on many occasions, b...

Hanging around with artist

Great article in the Gazette Feb 5 2013 about artist Marie-Anne Ricci Marie-Anne Ricci has reached out to artists in Montreal by accepting the work of anyone who wants to sell their pieces. Here she is seen with her daughter, Mackenzie-May in Boutik Arts Dans le Coin. Photograph by:  Marie-France Coallier , Montreal Gazette MONTREAL - Anyone walking by  Boutik Arts Dans le Coin  might think the four-month-old store is struggling. But the sparse interior and late opening hours are just how this retail store moonlights as an art gallery. Renting the walls is a welcome revenue stream for a small business that relies primarily on selling artwork on consignment for income. Marieanne Ricci, the owner, is also the store’s only employee. She prides herself on accepting the art of anyone who wants to sell their pieces. There is no judgment for those who want space in the store — only a waiting list. Ricci spent years as a struggling writer trying to bre...

Art Demonstration by Shernya Vininsky - Mediums mixtes / Mixed Media

Last night our art group had a demo with Multi Medium Artist Shernya Vininsky who showed us a very different technique for painting on matt board. She used Golden Fluid acrylics and laid out some of the colours on the matt board and then took a scrap piece of matt board to spread the colours. From there she took some cut outs of some of her horses that she paints and added it to one of the boards, painted it and then when dry removed it and added it to another matt board which she later added some definition to it. I was so thrilled with all the different techniques that I stayed up till 1:30am playing around with different papers and boards and paints, inks and water colours. After some of them had dried I added to different mediums to add more colour tomorrow. I will post some photos by the end of the week when everything is complete. Here is the link to her website:  http://www.shernya.artbo.net/ and of course I added this to my Pinterest "Inspiring art work" ...

Inspiring things to do for art work

Read more: {this is glamorous}  http://citified.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2011-06-17T19:30:00-07:00&max-results=9#ixzz1ZgUTjQPl Under Creative Commons License:  Attribution {the top five things that inspire her work:} 1.  Day dreaming. I pretty much fantasize about beautiful things all day long, and then I think oh wow, wouldn't a lavender and dark green something be the best . . . off to paint! 2.  Fashion. The prints! The proportions! The drama! I am recently drawn to spare, modern clothes in the perfect shade of black, blue or grey, and it is making me want to do paintings with less color, and softer compositions and lots of nice clean space. 3.  Travel. I love to see what other people are wearing, how stores in different cities do window displays, the light and the sky and the ocean in places that are not land-locked Atlanta . . . even the trees, the colors of leaves. I am going to California soon, and I am super excited to look at some ...
