Up-cycling garbage find, a cute wooden rocking chair

Up until this year, I was famous for picking up stuff in the garbage and either bringing it home, cleaning, sanding and then painting some little design on it or even just drop it at the local second hand store, but because I am trying to clean up the house, I have been holding back......until I saw this cute little rocking chair. I was screaming, pick me up, clean me up and come and sit on me while reading a book. So I brought it home last Friday and I am proud of how quickly I worked on it. Maybe it has something to do with Mr. man's frown when he saw it. Anyhow here are the pic's of start to finish, it will look great in my grandson's room, until he is able to sit and read a good book.                                   And here is the lucky winner of this wonderful rocking chair.

Wicker chair and couch garbage find

My hubbie found this wonderful little set at the curb and brought it home for revamping. At first look I was not going to touch it as it seemed like a huge project but now I am finding great inspiration ideas thru fellow bloggers. Unfortunetaly the cushions that were with it were too used to even try to salvage. I will most likely buy some new foam and then use the some of the 50 ft of fabric that I got from my girlfriend Kitty when she was moving from Montreal. Source: Well I think the verdict if finally in for the darker colour. Now should I use paint or stain. I think that Krylon probably has the best paint out there right now so I will have to see if I can match the colour and while I am at it, I will stand my wicker plant s...

Latest garbage find

My husband pulled this baby out of someones garbage last week. It's a heavy sucker and has quite a bit of rot on it. I brought it up to the cottage and sanded it down and replaced 5 boards which were beyond repair with rot sealer. Then I gave it 2 coats of burgundy paint and it looks wonderful along with my other 4 adirondack chairs. I'll post the end result as soon as we get back up to the cottage. And here it is. Today July 29th, my neighbor's are throwing one in the garbage because the arm is broken....to be added to the one's up north. I forgot to add this little children's chair that I also found completely broken in pieces. I spent way too much time sanding it and glueing it together and now it holds my Christmas cactus in the dining room.
