Paintings sold or given away last year (2011)

how it progressed SOLD finished with Kitty's collection  given as a gift for Liane done for Kitty SOLD Part of Kitty's collection now This painting was started in 1980 and finished in 2011. Pastel with inks. Donated for raffle at Kitty and Daniel's house concert 2011. While doing some clean up on my studio, I came across the files for a couple of paintings that I sold or gave away as gifts last year but may have misplaced the digital files.....so after looking for a bit of time I came across them and posting them so that I don't loose track again.

New painting on my own stretched canvas

I am starting the painting for Andrea laying in the outline and some of the background colours. It is a little green still but I will let it sit for a bit and then go in with Andrea to add some of the oranges, reds and yellows. I know I should have added these colours b/4 but I wasn't sure if we would make it a summer or fall painting. If I need to we will do an exercise in blocking out with gesso....no biggy. I have no expectations other than the learning curve.

LET GO OF EXPECTATIONS

Straight from Julie of Balzer Designs, Let go of expectations. http://balzerdesigns.typepad.com/balzer_designs/2012/01/art-journal-every-day-let-go-of-expectations.html#tpe-action-posted-6a00d8341c766153ef016760da1079970b Here is one of my daily blog reads that inspires me to do a little something something every day. I don't really keep a printed journal but record my work in my blog. Anyhow here are some of Julie's tips about letting go of your expectations: Remember, it's just ten minutes of nourishing your creative self every day!  No need to finish anything or even like it. One of the most common complaints I hear from people about art journaling is that they can't get their pages to look how they envision them in their heads.  Well, I can't either.  I'm sure somebody out there gets it "just right" every single time, but it's not me.    And yet, I love my pages.   My secret?  I have learned to let go of my pre-conceptions of wh

Doodling and water colours- Yoga for my mind

Yesterday I had my wonderful friend Andrea over to start doing some exercises to get into painting. I started her off with something relaxing while we chatted, doodling with water colours. Later on they were embellished with markers. Here are some of the designs that I worked on.

Christmas gifts and latest paintings

The challenge was on for the holidays. I painted 6 paintings and I am still on a roll. I wake up every morning thinking about the next project. I just finished a portrait painting in colour which I am not really all that good at but it was a challenge anyhow. I also finished an oil painting which I started about 10 years ago and to my surprise I miss painting with oils. I don't miss the waiting time or the smells which everyone complains about but love the way the paint is easy to blend. Anyhow I figured I would post them and got on to some new commissioned projects tomorrow.  This is a painting commissioned for Lee and Maureen. It's their two grandchildren. I haven't painted faces in colour in so long because I have the hardest time with them but it was good practice.  This is my oil painting that I started about 10 years ago. I am letting the varnish dry a bit and will probably conclude it in the next couple of weeks. The background was my first experimentati
