Image transfers and process on Coco Chanel Perfume and Marilyn Monroe images

Here are some of the image transfers that I have been playing with while waiting for my order from Currys Art supply to finish my 24 x 36 for my daughter and son in law's bedroom. I didn't want to get too involved in another painting until my supplies came because I want to get it done for his birthday at the end of the month.

I know these look big but they are actually only 6 x 12 mini's. The process was pretty simple, I printed up 2 pictures on my toner lazer printer cut out the images. For the Marilyn one I didn't have to do too much just bring it to the edge of the black but the Coco Channel one I had to cut as close to the bottle of perfume as possible so that I wouldn't see the white edges when it was transferred. Notice that I printed the CoCo Channel one backwards, I forgot the reverse the image before I printed it. You have to do this with any lettering but in this case I think it looks cute. I then painted the 2 white canvases with a antiquing medium from Martha Stewart which gave it like a stain and finally splattered some different paints on it. Let it dry completely. Then I used matt medium and applied it only to the areas where the transfer was to be put lying the image down on the medium. I started removing the air bubbles starting from the centre and working my way to the edges. Making sure the whole time that what ever medium came out on the edges was wiped off with a rag so that I did not add it back on top of the image. I let it rest for 5 minutes to make sure it was dry and then looked to find the best edge to start pulling up some of the white paper. Once you see that it has transferred only then can you pull up the paper. Once the first layer of paper is off I add just a little bit of water to my fingers to start removing the rest of the paper by doing a little rubbing action with my finger tips. These 2 mini paintings took over 2 hours. When you see it is pulling up the black toner, stop and let it rest a bit and come back when it is dry. Using very little water is important otherwise the whole transfer will pull up.  Once the paper is pulled up then you can varnish it which will bring out the black. Neither of these 2 pictures are varnished yet because that is one of the products that I am waiting for. And Ta da, you have a mini little paintings. I will be putting the CoCo Channel one in my bathroom and the other one will be raffled off as I am not a fan of it.

End of a collection #Breweriana

For years my hubby and I collected Breweriana items. It started with beer glasses and within a year or two without realizing it, we had over 100 displayed in our A frame window ledge. Then it was coasters from every bar or restaurant we visited. The next level was Beer trays which we eventually sold off. This all started when we were making our own beer even managed to find the old quart size bottles and the cases. As with most collections it grows without even noticing. You know it's out of control when you need to clean over 100 glasses, twice a year. We still pick up glasses, coasters and trays here and there but more for reselling. This is the last bit of the collection that we no longer display and all the coasters have a pin hole as they were mounted in our basement on our barn wood walls. They are in relatively good condition for the next collector to come along and purchase them. Poshmark.ca/closet/bpagani Thank you for checking them out.  update this batch which had lots
