Let them eat cake table makeover with chalk paint

This poor table got a real banged up.So I decided that I would paint it....as if I needed an excuse. I wanted to do some of the work like done on Graphic Fairy site but I decided to make it more personalized                  For the cake area I added some modeling past with white paint to make it look real. I used "White icing" white Martha Stewart chalkpaint to coat the whole table first. I did 3 light coats to get into some of the groves in the table because I didn't not sand it down. After I drew out some of the designs that I wanted and painted them in with Liquitex paint markers. The grey "yesterday" is also chalk paint by Americana Decor.  . I will be going back up to the cottage shortly to finish it because it is a side table that we need to use in the kitchen and I have been dragging this project out for a bit. I will probably do a little antiquing on it to tone down some of the intense colours and then seal it i...

New Montreal painting in progress

I am doing some image transfer and spray paint with this one. I am not sure if I am liking it though. I will put it aside for a bit and go back to it at a later date.

Thomas the train painting for my grandson

My grandson who is 2 now is obsessed with Thomas the train. So I made him a big painting for his room for Christmas. This is one of the cheap canvases that I bought at Michaels craft store so I am not worried it he does manage to knock it off the wall. I will probably have to re stretch the canvas at some point.

Going bigger on the painting of Montreal Scene

This one is for my daughter's bedroom 24 x 36 Montreal scene. It took a bit of time to conclude and I was worried about the colours being to dramatic because my son in law likes things simple. This was a canvas that I purchased at Michaels craft store because they were on sale, never again will I waste my money on their canvases as it was not stretched properly. I will most likely take it back from my daughters and restrech it when I get some good stretching pliers

10 Minute Mini painting challenge

After posting this picture of a 10 minute painting challenge, a good friend of mine told me that she felt that I was bragging and it made me rethink about the descriptions that I put on my post and also to elaborate about what the post was really intended for. These mini paintings are a challenge for me to get out of going back and repainting. I am trying to keep the intended idea that I had in the very first sitting. It is hard for me not to repeatedly go back and change colours in a painting. Since these mini canvases are inexpensive, I am going to put a bunch to the test and sell them on my etsy store. March 6th 2015 A little update: Since I started working on the 10 minute challenge I have done at least 10 mini paintings and I am loving each and everyone of them. I am allowing myself to second guess what colours I have decided or what the subject is and I am pretty happy with the outcome. It is also a little warmer up for some of the bigger commissioned painting that I have ...

I almost forgot to mention the cute little flower painting that I won last year

I am not a lucky person when it comes to winning things so I can't believe that I didn't mention this but I won a painting on line, last year.I was in the midst on the painting skates frenzy so with all that and Christmas, My Birthday and New Years, I completely forgot about it till I read Amy's post this morning. The Artist, Amy Tanathorn posted a painting to win on either Facebook or Instagram, I don't remember which, but low and behold I won it. I have it up in my office/studio on the wall with all my artwork and inspirations. So I went out and bought a lottery ticket and it turned out that I was off on 3 numbers by one number only to win 20 million. Oh well, I hadn't been a big winner up till now but I got a nice painting and a free lotto ticket and 10 dollars so I was happy. Here is the link to Amy's site http://amytanathorn.com/
