Upcycling 101- Old trophies and awards

My son cleaned out his room a couple of weeks ago and had tons of awards and throphies, instead of putting them in the garbage I decided to try to upcycle the small plaques. For the trophies, I simply took off his name and sent them to the second hand store hoping someone craftier than me can do something with them. I wasn't sure how I would paint over the existing enamel paint and thought of sanding them down and then repainting them but that was alot of effort. Here is the second one that I did for 2 of the women that work with Chuck. One of them sent me a beautiful candlebra as a Thank you, now I have to thank her for this.....and so it goes
