The first one is a Japan lacquered jewelry box depicting a scene from Mount Fuji. A ballerina pops up when the cover is opened. The ballerina has had some damage and was badly glued back together which makes her dance a little off to the side. The whole interior is done in a fushia material. The box is intact and all the pieces of abalone shell are intact. The bottom has the wind up for the music which I am not sure of the song but think it might be Fly me to the moon". The bottom is stamped "Angel 205" with other numbers underneath which are not legible. I found a cute meaning to the |"Angel 205" on the internet and hand wrote it to go with the box. There seems to be a bit of wear on the outside of the box but in pretty nice shape for it being possibly from the 1950's. Measurements are 9" x 5 1/4" x 4".
This next jewelry box is twice the size but doesn't have the ballerina. I purchased it in the 1980's at a garage sale and it was in very poor shape. The side were a ugly looking brown and was mat and dull. I painted it black. Then I resined the top to highlight the beautiful Mount Fuji scene which seemed dull and had no luster. The winder on the bottom plays a tune when opened but I am unable to figure out the song.
