Frank Lloyd Wright pop up book

  • Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to design the museum in 1943 by Solomon R. Guggenheim and museum director Hilla Rebay.
  • Purpose:
The museum was conceived as a "temple of the spirit" to house and display Solomon Guggenheim's expanding collection of modern art.
  • Historical Significance:
Wright spent 15 years developing the design, creating numerous sketches and working drawings for the building, which was eventually completed and opened in 1959.
This book features pop-up representations of six of Frank Lloyd Wright's most famous buildings, including the Robie House, Ennis House, Fallingwater, Johnson's Wax Administrative Building, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
It uses paper engineering techniques to bring these architectural marvels to life in a three-dimensional format.
The book also includes photographs, construction details, and an informed narrative alongside the pop-ups.

Pictures of Montreal in the 60's

Decarie Boulevard 1961. The  Gibeau Orange Julep , also known as the Big Orange, was built by Hermas Gibeau in 1942. That building looked like  this  in the 1950s. The structure was rebuilt in the mid-1960s when the road was widened. This larger, fiberglass orange is 40 feet in diameter. The Orange Julep drink is similar to that produced by Orange Julius. Both companies developed their foamy orange drinks in the 1920s.
